The now-legendary concert festival ZAIRE ’74, held before the RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE between Ali & Foreman, was conceived by trumpeter Hugh Masekela and record producer Stewart Levine.

In June of 1967, Monterey International Pop Music Festival brought a culture-shifting moment in America. It was Jimi Hendrix, The Who, and Ravi Shankur's first American performances. Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, The Grateful Dead, The Butterfield Blues Band, Booker T and the MGs, and many others played for an estimated 50-90,000 festival-goers.
