Throwback Theresa's Lounge Chicago T-Shirt Theresa's Lounge was the infamous Chicago Blues club run by a blues legend in her own rite, Theresa Needham. In a low-ceiling basement on Chicago's South Side, Theresa opened her lounge in the winter of 1949. Junior Wells and James Cotton would become the house band. Buddy Guy borrowed money from Theresa for his first electric guitar. At 4801 South Indiana, Theresa's was wrapped in ancient christmas lights and became one of the funkiest go-to spots to hear the greatest music Chicago had to offer -- and it was always the blues. After 33 years, Theresa's was forced to move, and shuttered soon after. Though Ms. Needham died in 1993, her contribution to the blues earned her a place in the Blues Hall of fame in 2001.
