The Beastie Boys used jazz man Jimmy Smith’s 1972 classic “Root Down (And Get It)” as the foundation for their own song (and the title of their album), 1995’s “Root Down”.

American rock band The Allman Brothers continued to make music for a stunning 45 & over 2,500 concerts, performing their final show on October 28, 2014 at the Beacon Theatre , NYC.
