Paramount Records was actually founded by the Wisconsin Chair Company. They had made phonograph cabinets and needed records for people to play on them. So they recorded the likes of Blind Lemon Jefferson, Ma Rainey and Tommy Johnson.

Bob Koester founded Delmark Records, now the oldest independent blues and jazz label, in 1958.
