Bluebird Records was founded in 1932, recording the likes of Sonny Boy Williamson, Glen Miller and Big Bill Broonzy before closing some time after WWII.

In the late 1930’s, jazz great Duke Ellington invited aspiring songwriter Billy Strayhorn to “TAKE A TRAIN” to visit him in Harlem — the phrase became the title of one of the best known jazz pieces ever.
