When The Rolling Stones’ Brian Jones died at 27 years old, The Who’s Pete Townshend and The Doors’ Jim Morrison each published poems about him, and Jimi Hendrix dedicated a song to him on TV. Hendrix & Morrison would both soon join the 27 club, with Morrison dying exactly 2 years to-the-day after Jones.

It was Bonnie Raitt’s 1970 performance with Mississippi Fred McDowell at the Philadelphia Folk Festival that earned her first recording contract with Warner Brothers.
