Marvin Gaye’s first lead vocals were performed in 1959 at Chess Records, for his band Harvey and the New Moonglows. When the act failed to chart, Marvin disbanded & moved to Detroit, soon capturing the attention of Motown’s Barry Gordy.

The Beatles’ original bassist Stuart Sutcliffe left the band shortly before they became famous to pursue painting full-time in Hamburg, where he unexpectedly died of a brain hemorrhage at just 21. The Beatles included a photo of him on the cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
