One of the earliest songs recorded by 19-year old Van Morrison and Them was a cover of “Baby Please Don’t Go”, originally by Big Joe Williams, (but based on a John Lee Hooker cover).

The folk-blusey song “House of the Rising Sun” was first recorded in the early 30s, but nobody knows who actually wrote it.
