The Mississippi Sheiks’ extremely influential 1930 song “Sitting on Top of the World” has been covered hundreds of times in many genres, including by Bob Willis and his Texas Playboys, Jack White, Grateful Dead, Cream, B.B. King, Doc Watson, Don McLean, et al.

The Grateful Dead’s skull/lightning logo, the iconic dancing bears, and even the band’s legendary “WALL OF SOUND” speaker system were all contributed by Owsley “Bear” Stanley, a chemist who was originally the band’s LSD dealer.
