Coincidentally, the first Rock n Roll song, “Rocket 88” by Ike Turner & Jackie Brenston was first recorded in the same building that Bessie Smith died in — now the Riverside Motel in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

The track “Buried Alive in the Blues” on Janis Joplin’s 1971 album Pearl was instrumental because Joplin passed away the night before recording the vocals.
