Four months after stunning soul singer Baby Huey’s death at just 26, “The Baby Huey Story” was released (by Curtis Mayfield) and quietly became one of the most influential albums of the era, sampled by musical legends including Tribe Called Quest, Ice Cube, Ghostface Killah, The Roots, John Legend, Will.i.am & Wu-Tang Clan.

Chance Records was founded in 1950, and became a pivotal Chicago record label. Specializing in the booming Jazz, Blues and Pop that was dominating the airwaves, Chance captured John Lee Hooker, Jimmy Reed, and many others.

Eventually, Chance shuttered to make way for Vee-Jay Records, which brought a little band called The Beatles to America.
