This photo was taken on a patch of Highway 61 just north of Clarksdale Mississippi, among sprawling cotton fields and low-laying swamps. 

The Blues Highway!! Highway 61 snakes along the Mississippi River from Minnesota to the French Quarter in New Orleans, carrying the evolution of American music, while inspiring generations of musicians like Bob Dylan, Sunnyland Slim and Mississippi Fred McDowell. In one version of the legend, Robert Johnson is said to have sold his soul at the crossroads of Highway 61 and 49, just outside of Clarksdale, Mississippi.
