Founded in the early 1960s, Po’ Monkeys’ Juke Joint outside of Merigold, Mississippi was famously known as the last of the first authentic delta juke joints, and carried on the tradition until the death of the owner, Willie Seaberry in 2016.

June 16 - June 18, 1967 brought the culture-changing three-day Monterey International Pop Music Festival brought Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, The Grateful Dead, Ravi Shankur, The Who, The Butterfield Blues Band, Booker T and the MGs, and many others to an estimated 50-90,000 festival-goers.

Monterey was Jimi Hendrix, Ravi Shankur and The Who's first American performances. This unique lineup would never exist again, but many performances were captured on video.
