Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, their ninth studio album, was released on September 12th, 1975. The record was wrapped in black cellophane with a sticker of two mechanical hands shaking, symbolizing a sort of emptiness. 

Wish You Were Here shot to #1 immediately -- so fast Columbia Records couldn't print enough copies to keep up with demand. The album became the band's fastest selling ever, now at 6x platinum.
