Soul singer Otis Redding’s hit song “Try A Little Tenderness” was released on Volt Records November 14th, 1966.

The Beach Boys’ “Surfin’ U.S.A.” was nearly a note-for-note copy of Chuck Berry’s “Sweet Little Sixteen”. Chuck reportedly did enjoy the song, and eventually got a songwriting credit for it.
