Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers was drafted into the Vietnam war, so he threw a “Foot Shootin’ Party” with his brother Duane, and shot himself in the foot to get out of it.

The Beach Boys’ “Surfin’ U.S.A.” was nearly a note-for-note copy of Chuck Berry’s “Sweet Little Sixteen”. Chuck reportedly did enjoy the song, and eventually got a songwriting credit for it.
