Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Cotton Fields” on Willy and the Poor Boys was written by Leadbelly, who first recorded the song in 1940.

While Waylon Jennings was recording his album “I’ve Always Been Crazy” in 1977, federal agents stormed the recording studio trying to bust Jennings for drugs, which they didn’t find. He was inspired to write “Don’t You Think This Outlaw Bit’s Done Got Out of Hand?” after the experience.
